I headcanon these 3 as childhood friends of that super awful kids variety, they would wreck everything on their path and cagney and goopy would basically always get scot-free because they had super angelic faces basically (tho don’t misunderstand, Hilda also woudn’t get out of troubles but was more because she was a kid from rich people) until Hilda was sent to study astronomy/piloting, but she would always taunt them about how they wouldn’t be able to depend of their baby faces to save their asses forever
…of course, she didn’t count that even after years passed and she come back from her schooling, that they didn’t just keep THOSE FACES, but pretty much also perfectioned the whole “goodie two shoes” act

oh hey dude thanks!! I’m in love with creatures and non humanoids characters but there is something pretty fun about making desings of those as regular people, I guess is all about making something that would have that special air of the character, not just visually but also personality if there is any to grasp from, also I feel is quite a thing when something is from another time period liek cuphead becuase then is also about searching things from there to use which really just make it all the more interesting!
