About headcanons, you think Tamatoa was a little shy in the beggining with Maui when they starwd trying kissing? Lol

okey sooooooo, like I have mentioned a bunch of times, I see this two being exactly a couple of frat college boys, I imagine them being a lot into physically affection, hugging, carrying each other, sleeping over each other like an awful couch, but always acting like “no homo“, becuase dumbass guys

so when something like kissing end up happening, it probably was in a moment of celebration or casual semi exciting time and then they were like “welp, I guess it was rightful homo“, but they still acted more like jerk friends rather than fluff romance because thats just how they are and how they are sweet towards each other, giving you a freaking black eye and saying you look handsome with it

Okay, so tama and maui's "leg fight" wasnt cuz "boo hoo tamatoa is da evil dude who loves shiny stuff" but what if it was because both thought they needed the heart more? Or for different mentalities? Maui is shown to be willing to do anything to impress humans, and tama dont think humans are really that important so he'd use that for smth else

the point is that I feel the heart isn’t need at all for the fall out, the heart add a bunch of layers of heaviness it doesn’t actually need

liek I said, Maui reasons of doing things are very simple, just impressing humans so they like him more, so I feel the leg ripping should work in the same way, an acident that just happened, but maui felt so nervious about this that he just though of leaving without more

and actually I use the te fifi’s heart as part of my headcanon, in the way that after the incident, maui deciding to go for the heart becuase one, he knew this deed would be basically worth of years of attention from the humans, and two, he had ripped teh leg of his best friend, he fucked up so hard here, so maybe would be okey to be some dozen of years apart, you know? to could down things

but of course, if you would hear that yoru best friend, that just ruined one of your legs and not even said sorry, is back at his daily routine of adventure and idol stuff, that of course is just gonna feed your bitterness and anger, not so much at humans, but at him

oh boy, oh boy, this one is a tie between “fight for the te fifi’s heart“ and “broke off because of Tama’s gold craze going too far“ for reasons about the friendship ending/leg rip, so yeah, unpopular opinion from ThisMighty, really really don’t like any of those hc for that explanation

for the frist one, is that I feel it would be too easy making tamatoa the guilty one for the separation becuase well, he already is a villanious character that tried eating moana and laughing about sensible matters like eating his grandma and following your heart being garbage, so obviusly if someone is at fault of a broken friendship is the arrogant selfish asshat crab monster

but the deal is….Maui technically is also an arrogant selfish asshat, like yeah, not as amoral as tamatoa, but then again, crab lives on the land of monsters, not a place to be kindhearted really, also, half the point of the movie from maui’s side was about how big problems become when you run away from them, problems YOU MADE HAPPEN

so I really can’t see tamatoas as the one that ruined the things according to this motif of the story, and I not saying my hc about the leg rip is the best one, becuase I just want it to be an unrelated accidentbut because and maui runned away in places of confronting, it ruined everything

now about the gold craze stuff, this one comes form the fact that basically any tamatoa official info always carry small fragments about how he “use his shiny exterior to hide his insecurities“, and yeah maybe is copy and paste type of info, but this always make me thing that while tamatoa started collecting treasures when adventuring with maui, but he only got 100% focuses on it after the leg insident and maui leaving just like it, so tama kind of adopted a mentality of “love fades away but things? things are forever“

thats why I just can’t get on any of those hc, maui’s reason to get the heart wasn’t actually deep or particular, was just for more fame, so I don’t see why the friendship fall out need a more bitter or bad reason to happend bsides accidentally, and just becuase tama is shiny obsesses right now, doesn’t mean that 1000 years ago he have to be exactly the same, that don’t really make sense

I have a tiny headcanon, that the little spines on the back of his head are a huge weakpoint, if a human rubs them he just turns into a bubbling mess (like one does when someone gives them a massage) to the point of just lying there on the floor.

ptffffffffffffffff I honestly dunno about it ahhhhhh I never really know about those headcanons about weak body points such as this, maybe???? I mean always that is not taken to a weird sense then yeah sure, it soudns like a fun possibility??? oh boyyyyyyyyyyyahhhhhhhhh

urhmmmmm this one is a hard one, I guess it would be that one of tamatoa and maui’s youth was spend doing Road to el dorado type of hijinks, I 100% believes thats how they went at it all the time basically

What do you think Tamatoa's relationship with his grandmother was like? I know he ate her, obvi, but do you think it was out of anger or self defense? Did they have a falling out?

while I’m totally into the hc that tamatoa doesn’t mind eating lesser beings such as kakamoras or other creatures and I kind of think the same from maui, I like to think that eating your recent deceased is just how giant coconut crabs culture rolls

I imagine that tama’s grandma as the classic huge matriarch type of lady, very scary and serious, but that was strangely nice with her smaller family, not the type to spoil but the type that ask for you to come next to her, kinda pat you in the head/face, hand you some candies and send you away. A weird type of tenderness that Tama was alright with and liked, I think he probably miss her a bit

I think he probably was somewhere between teenhood and adulthood when the incident happen, also, she would be proud that he is using this to strike fear in the heart of his preys before eating them
