For some reason I started to think about the unsaid connection between maniac pixie dream girl and the prince charming (in minor way, knight in shiny armor) archetype, I just feel there is a thing there
like, while not obviously not the same, both fundamentally play a similar role, helping the mc out of a sorrowful/dangerous situation, usually are more worldly and master of their surroundings, unconditionally love for not many personal reasons
in the end both are archetypes of a saving nature on two different situations, the dream girl gets the default nurturing role of female characters, while the prince the savior of misadventure, but still holds the same endgame purpose
and I feel we all sometimes forget prince characters in fairy tales don’t usually have that much role, even if they are the saviors of the danger in the last second, most of those stories are still of the princess or maiden’s unlucky lives, miserable, but still theirs
so relatively speaking, there isn’t that much difference of a quirky girl that comes out of nowhere to make your life better and gives you self-esteem, and ridicules chivalrous guy that comes out of nowhere to make your life better and gives you a castle
really can’t say where I wanted to get with this, maybe I just want to see a medieval romcom with a lord’s son being saved and taken on an adventure by a maniac dream fae girl that fell in love with him, on the other side I already have kate & leopold, but I wouldn’t be opposed for a modern take on Don Quixote finally being allowed to be a maniac dream pixie godfather he could be
